Dave Brong: Personal agents are the big shift this fall
Hi everyone, Dave Brong here. I run AI Engineering at Level, which mostly means I spend my days building agents, breaking them, and figuring out which ones are actually worth anyone's time.
The big shift this fall is personal agents. Meta shipped Muse, OpenAI shipped Dots, xAI has Grok Bot, and Anthropic has Claude Duet on a waitlist. These aren't chat windows you go visit. They run in the background, watch your inbox, surface priorities, and act on your behalf. And brands are already getting ready for them: Walmart now lets agents shop for customers, and Cloudflare is making storefronts readable by agents.
My advice is the same thing I tell our own team. Try one on your personal workflow first, because everybody wants a different assistant and nobody can set it up for you. Have it draft, you read, then you let it send. Keep your work accounts out of it until you know what the integration actually does.
And don't chase every headline... which is a funny thing to say right before handing you a list of links. So here are the ones I think actually matter.
